Abstract

The method used semantics approach. The instrument of research was note taking which data collection was interpreted in four ways such as collectingthe data, reading the songs lyric, selecting process, collecting the data which contain associative meaning, they are (connotative, stylistic, effective, reflected, and collocative meaning) and then they are underlined. In this research, the researcher found out that there were five types of associative meanings in the lyric of Westlife‟s song they are connotative meaning, stylistic meaning, affective meaning, reflected meaning, collocative meaning and also to find the expression of the song lyric such as feeling pleasure and happiness when someone married with his lover, sadness when his lover is gone, Disappointed when someone dishonest by his lover.
