Abstract

This study attempts to analyze the Id, the Ego, and the Super-ego of Miguel’s in movie entitled Coco. Using psychoanalysis theory proposed by Sigmund Freud toconduct the analysis. The results of the study show some characters of Miguelnamely: (1) Stubborn and optimistic, (2) Full of strategies. The writer then findsthat these characters of Miguel are strongly represented the concept of the Id, theEgo, and the Super-ego proposed by Freud. Another result that was found, the factthat Miguel is able to affect other characters in the film and direct them to a betterstate in life. The first evidence is Mama Imelda that gives her faith to believe inmusic at last Mama Coco can rest in peace and see their family in the Land ofDeath, because it helps them remember what it's like to be free and to unityseparated family , the second is bringing back the truth that Hector is the realmusician when he writes a song that stolen by de la Cruz, and the last one isfamily comes first to reach the dreams. Each one of those representations ofMiguel’s id, ego, and super-ego is different, but they all have similar effects onthe characters in the story. Dream is what Miguel’s wants to be and the othercharacters willpower to survive and seek for being together as family did.
