Abstract

This study was conducted to analyze the leadership character of the Black Panther, T'Challa, as the king of Wakanda in the film ―Black Panther‖. The study employed the great men theory by Thomas Carlyle to describe T'Challa‘s leadership core of traits and the effect of these traits to other characters. This study was qualitative descriptive analysis by describing the data collected from watching the film and reading narrative script of Black Panther. The findings showed that T'Challa has all these traits of leadership. He has achievement drive, leadership motivation, honesty and integrity, self-confidence, cognitive ability, knowledge in business, emotional maturity and charisma. These traits also have a significant effect not only to T'Challa himself, but also to the people around him, and this is what makes him a great king. Therefore, it can be concluded that T'Challa has fulfilled the criteria of a great leader according to the great men theory by Thomas Charlyle.
