Abstract

This study is conducted to analyze conceptual metaphor of life and faith found in the lyrics of selected songs for Palestine. This study is aimed at explaining:(1) the source domain used to convey life and faith, (2) the meaning of conceptual metaphor. The researcher uses a qualitative approach. Therefore,this research uses content analysis as the research method. The sources of dataare 14 chosen song lyrics taken from YouTube video sharing platform. Thedata are collected by: (1) Downloading the lyrics video of each selected songsfrom YouTube video sharing platform, (2) Watching and listening to each selected songs by lyrics video to make sure that the lyrics in video are correct,
(3) Writing down the lyrics of selected songs from the lyrics into document.The results of this study show that there are eight source domains ofconceptual metaphors used to convey life and four source domains ofconceptual metaphors used to convey faith. The source domains used toconvey life are war, horror, journey, heat, mystery, gift, game, and joke. Thesource domains used to convey faith are peace, journey, guard, and victory.The meaning of conceptual metaphor is based on the mapping principle used. The meaning of conceptual metaphor for life is based on the frequent sourceof domains which are war and horror. While the meaning of conceptualmetaphor for faith is based on the frequent source of domain which is peace.
