Abstract

Key Words: Characters, Film, Language Style, Moon Bound.
This research is intended to examine language style by main characters of Moon Bound Film, Language style is use of language according to the relationship between the speaker and the interlocutor for communication with condition that are influenced by social interaction. Analysis of Language Style in this thesis uses Martin Joos’ theory (1967) to indentify the variety of language which in divided into 5 by Martin Joos namely, Fozen Style, Formal Style, Consultative Style, Casual Style, and Intimate Style. Because the data source for this research is a conversational dialogue in the form of text, this research method uses a qualitative method, namely by identifying the types of Language Style in Moon Bound film, classifying the types of Language Style in tables, coding the data, analyzing the meaning of the Language Style used by the main character in the Moon Bound Film. In this research resulted in conclusions, namely the first, there four of five kinds of language style. Second, the meaning in each use of style of language style used by main characters Anne, Peter, Sandman, and Zoomzeman in each convertation. With the following details: Formal style, Consultative style, Casual style, and Intimate style.
