Abstract

Keywords: Deixis, Inside OutScript.
Language is used to communicate, sometimes the utterances that delivered by the speaker to the hearer or addresse is ambiguous. Without context the addresse will be difficult to understand the meaning of the speaker clearly. Inside outis one of many kid movies that has many utterances, that the meaning will benot understood when there is no deitic that used. This study is conducted to identify the types of Deixis are found in Inside Out and uses the theory of Deixis from Levinson to do the analysis.The study uses descriptive qualitative method. The data is utterances that every spoken by the characters in the movie and the source of data is the transcript of Inside Out movie .The study collects the data from transcription of Inside Out taken from internet (www.dailyscript.com).The data classifiesinto five types of Deixis. The analysis of data based on Levinson‟s theory of deixis. After that, the data is interpreted using contextual explanation.The analysis find out that the five types of deixis based on Levinson‟s theory are found in utterances Inside Out script. They are Person Deixis : I, We, Us, Our, We, Our, Me, and My. Place Deixis : Here, That, There, This, and Headuaters. Time Deixis : Thursday, Tomorrow, This year, Today, and Now. Discourse Deixis :But, The point, That and This. Social Deixi : Sir. The point of deitic expression from each utterance is based on context.
