Abstract
Key Words: Semiotic, Roses,Beauty and The Beast.
1. This study attempts to analyze the meaning of symbol of rose in Beauty and The Beast. To conduct the analysis, the writer applies Roland Barthes Theory in semiotics as theoretical framework of the research. From the data analysis, the writer finds some meaning of roses that have important roles in this film, the meaning symbol of roses in this film is meaning of love, life, destiny, magic, curse, freedom and sincerity. The red rose becomes a symbol of the curse that determines the destiny of the prince and each strand of flower petals becomes a symbol of the time and life of the prince and his friends, because if the last rose petals fall and the prince have not got his true love then the curse will be eternal and the life of the prince and his friends will be destroyed.
