Abstract

Key Words: Analysis, Brony, Illocutionary Acts, Indonesian Bronies Community, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Language and practice of many languages related to social, psychological, philosophical, cultural and even biological factors. Language is use as in social media. Social media is a tremendous material to investigate and Facebook is one of the social media which has a billion users in worldwide these days. This study is aimed at explaining: (1) the types of illocutionary acts found in the community, (2) the meaning of illocutionary acts in the community. The researcher used qualitative method because the research in this study is textual analysis which intended to analyze meaning of illocutionary acts in Indonesian Bronies Community on Facebook. The researcher began joined and observed every posts in community from February 18th 2016 to ended December 31st 2017. After that, from August 1st 2018 to December 15th 2018, the researcher had tried flash back every posts which posted by the member of community on the date when the researcher made observations. The data were analyzed to find out the types of illocutionary acts by using Austin‟s theory. The researcher took as many as 28 samples as the main data of the research, it was found that the most dominant type of illocutionary acts found in Indonesian Bronies Community on Facebook is behabitives consist of 10 posts, the second type is verdictives consist of 7 posts, the third type is exercitives consist of 7 posts, the fourth type is commisitive consist of 3 posts and the last type is expositives consist of only 1 post. Finally, based on the findings, the researcher suggests that the next research will be able to develop Austin‟s speech acts theory using illocutionary acts, that is either locutionary acts or perlocutionary acts because Austin‟s theory is rarely researched. The next researchers are also suggested to use another object in order to broaden the comprehension in speech acts such as movies, novels, speeches or social media.
