Abstract

This study analyzes the comparisons of intrinsic elementsespecially in part setting and characterization in Room with StockholmPennsylvania movie. In this study, the writer used the Nurgiyantoro theory. Nurgiyantoro said that intrinsic elements in novels or short stories are elements that build literary works. The approach used is a structural approach which is a structuralanalysis of literature, in this case, is fiction, this approach can be done byidentifying, studying, and describing functions and relationships between theintrinsic elements of the relevant fiction according to Nurgiyantoro theory. Thisstudy uses the qualitative technique because this study doesn’t use the numericaldata but need descriptions. Source of data in this study is Room Movie withStockholm, Pennsylvania Movie. In this theory of study, uses data such as quotes,words, sentences, or texts from Room Movie with Stockholm, Pennsylvania Movie.This study aims to analyze the similarities and differences intrinsic elements inRoom with Stockholm Pennsylvania movie. Intrinsic element is important role inbuilding the story, so that conveyed to the readers. It is also very important becauseeach literary work must be have intrinsic elements. The result of this study showsthat the writer found 5 data similarities of setting there are in the bedroom, diningroom, in the car, in the yard, and in the terrace. 1 data similarity of characterizationis the main characters as kidnap victim, and the type of characterization is loving.5 data differences of setting there are room like a basement, hospital, parents house,hallway, Kitchen, and bathroom. 3 data differences of characterization there areheartless, sly, kind, caring, and friendly.
