Abstract

Folklore is a literary work that lives or has lived and developed in a society that is transmitted orally from one generation to the next. Because inherited orally, stories often get variations or additions to the storyteller. A similar folktale will be told in different versions or ways even though the content of the story is the same. This research intends to explore the function and the dramatis personae that is contained in the folklore of NUSA TENGGARA TIMUR especially BELU district to be disseminated to young generation and indonesian community especially NTT area. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The data in this study is written data in the form of "Suri Ikun And Dua Burung" in the book entitled NUSANTARA writtenly, Yudhistira Ikranegara which is published by Dua Media. This study uses the theory of Vladimir Propp which analyzes the folklore into 31 dramatic persona functions. This analysis begins by writing down every function contained in the folklore of Suri Ikun And Dua Burung. And then add some summary of the contents and be given a conventional symbol that matches the structure of the function analysis and the dramatic charm in the story. In the analysis it was found that the story of Suri Ikun And Dua Burung has a structure similar to that of Russian folklore in the analysis of vladimir propp. Only 15 functions appear in the folklore of Suri Ikun And Dua Burung. But not all the functions that Vladimir Propp found in the folklore Suri Ikun And Dua Burung. Because in each story has its own structure although there are often equations of the story.
