Abstract
Sector of small and medium enterprise (UKM) is a potensial strategi and
important role in realizing the development of a strong national economy. According
to the statistic data of Ministry of Cooperatives and Small Enterprise, on 2000 more
than 66 million people working in small businesses sector, or about 99.44% of the
total employments in Indonesia (Tambunan, 2002). Experience in developed
countries shows that UKM is the sourch of production and technological innovation,
the growth of creative and innovative entrepreneurs, creating skilled labor and
production process flexibility to face the changing of market demand which the
segmentation is being more diverse and specific.
In Pamekasan, car free day have been held on April 11th, 2010. In car free
day implementation, Pamekasan government took the street vendors, student, and
other participants who wish to take the advantage of car free day’s moment to
increase the community’s economy. Even car free day has been the exhibition
arena of various crafts and superior product of Pamekasan.
The Amount of people who have participated in car free day program then
being collected in UKM car free day institution that became the target of Economic
Administration division of region secretariat of Pamekasan regency. Currently, the
number of members of UKM car free day has reached 114 small and medium-sized
businesses. UKM car free day is going to be developed continually in order to be
able to increase people’s income and prop up Pamekasan economy. The
government of Pamekasan regency will continue to facilitate and provide training for
the member of UKM car free day in order they can grow and develop into a
company that can complete in the global marketplace
