Abstract

This study aimed to describe the psychic conflicts faced by two of the main character. They are Sarah Lemon and Victor Delamonte who have different psychic conflict in novel The Time Keeper. Source of this research data from the novel The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom printed in 2012, publised by Music Sales Corporation (ASCAP). This research focuses on problems related to personality conflicts studied in the psychology literature, especially psychology literary work like novel. Data obtained by reading and recording techniques. The data was analyzed by qualitative descriptive method. The results showed the following matters. The first, psychic conflicts faced by Sarah Lemon covers enclosed with the problem in the family and school environment, not confident with the condition of her body, confused with existing conditions, desires that do not correspond to reality, the difference principle, disappointment, can not be herself, can not accept the fact. The second, psychic conflicts faced by Victor Delamonte covers confused with existing conditions, always dissatisfied with himself, can not accept the fact, decision was made to make a change. The third, different psychic conflicts of Sarah Lemon between Victor Delamonte was showed in their peak conflict which one of them said “End it now” and the other said “Another lifetime”.
