Abstract

Nowadays, people communicate via internet, especially social media. We can use social media and it makes easier to communicate with each other. Some famous social media are Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Path, Linkedlin, and many others. Instagram is social phenomenon which is booming and be favourite social media among teenagers and adults. Instagram also rich of utterance or speech act for example locutionary and illocutionary act. This study aims at finding kinds of speech act and types of speech act. This is a qualitative research. The data is the utterances on illocutionary acts and locutionary act based on the speech acts classification on type which is produced on th post of Instagram account. The main data source is obtained from utterances which are produced by account target in social media Instagram. The choosing of those account target is based on the most active account on Instagram and also the most often using speech acts on their posting. The result shows the most often used in social media instagram are locutionary and illocutionary act. From those finding, illocutionary act can be classified into two categories. Namely directives and expressive. Meanwhile the type of speech act that most often used in online social media Instagram is directives type. It is concluded that most Instagram account target use that social media to express the speakers want.
